uhhh its jang dong gun not lee dong gun

  2. 2 Sue April 16, 2008 at 9:09 am

You realize Park Joon Hyung is also in Speed Racer? Also, I suspect, with a bigger role than Bi because he can actually speak English?

  3. 3 popseoul April 16, 2008 at 9:11 am

    dwigt, thanks

  4. 4 ohgeeze. April 16, 2008 at 9:13 am

    Daniel Henney.
    He looks really good.
Whoa. Jang Hyuk’s debuting over here?
    Jang Dong Gun too.

  5. 5 FTLove April 16, 2008 at 9:16 am

Frankly, I’m not expecting much from any of these people except Daniel Henney. Not only can he speak the language perfectly, but he is also very attractive and a pretty good actor, so I think he’s the most suited to Americans tastes.

Bi shouldn’t even be a choice. Seriously, Bi isn’t cut out for the US market.

I’m curious to see how Jun Ji Hyun and Song Hye Kyo will do…

  6. 6 chuchu April 16, 2008 at 9:18 am

speed Racer with Rain…I think he is a great actor and I am interested to see how he does in an American movie. I think this movie will be a success (or at least I hope so) because many people like myself watched this series as a kid. Read somewhere there would be nice new special effects. Looking forward to that as well. After Rain’s movie, I would be interested in seeing Wolverine. I have all of the previous X-Men movies, watched the X-Men cartoons as a kid and would go to this movie to see Hugh Jackman.

  7. 7 sd April 16, 2008 at 9:18 am

i choose girls seven..because 7 is a lucky number and she is howt hawt hot

  8. 8 chuchu April 16, 2008 at 9:26 am

Some of you all need to knock it off when comes to trashing Rain. Dang…just give it rest. Rain is a good actor, did well in some of his other acting roles and will only get better with age. Honestly, the others on the list are way better looking than Rain and probably don’t have to try as hard (can get by on looks and probably do get by on looks). Rain has proven that he is a hard worker and I beleive he is suited to the American audience (not just Asians).

  9. 9 d32z April 16, 2008 at 9:40 am

how can u think ex-rapper from god has a bigger role? hmm but looking forward to rains and gianna’s the most, i saw a screen shot of gianna’s movie, looks very dark and edgy. very nice

  10. 10 bogus April 16, 2008 at 9:41 am

i choose gianna jun too. she has the biggest role and i’m interested how they translate the anime, using the “cold” side of her image. i’ve seen ha jungwoo’s Never Forever, which has nice visuals but button-pushing topics that feel manipulative. his english is also hard to understand. #2 feels lame because he hadn’t even acted before?

  11. 11 Cutie April 16, 2008 at 9:41 am

Wow.. I knew all of them were trying to enter Hollywood… but when you put them all together, thats alot of people >.< (and alot of em have the letter “J” in their name… *yes.. quite random*)

  12. 12 Jane. April 16, 2008 at 9:57 am

@d32z, do you have a link of the screenshot?
As much as I want all of them to do well, I think Daniel Henney has the biggest advantage and chance of being successful.

  13. 13 ekcc April 16, 2008 at 10:03 am

    screw that..

i’m looking forward to “Ninja Assassin”
not because Rain is in it, but because V for Vendetta was freaking awesome so i am hoping Ninja Assassin is as good or even better..

  15. 15 bigbanghwaiting April 16, 2008 at 10:03 am

OMG daniel henney is in XMAN?!?! OMG!!!! I LOVE XMAN!!
    can’t wait!

i actually can’t wait for song hye gyo’s movie, cuz i wanna see america’s response on her beauty. lol.

  16. 16 Seeny April 16, 2008 at 10:04 am

nice poll popseoul! its nice to have them all organized.

I’m rooting for Park Jun-hyung and Jang Dong Gun! And Bi too; I don’t like him as a singer, but as an actor, he’s definitely got talent (see: I am a Cyborg but that’s Okay).

  17. 17 ekcc April 16, 2008 at 10:07 am

    My choice is RAIN!!!

“Speed Racer” and “Ninja Assassin” produced by Wachowskis bro. and Joel Silver..
Not to mention, he’s a talented actor.

  18. 18 ekcc April 16, 2008 at 10:11 am

James McTeigue is one of my favorite directors..
Yep, V for Vendetta was a really good movie..

So Rain with James McTeigue, Wachowskis and Joel Silver…
    HAHAHAHAHA….

  19. 19 anne April 16, 2008 at 10:12 am

Ha Jung Woo! Just becuz :D ‘Second Love’ as in ‘Never Forever’?

  20. 20 yeli April 16, 2008 at 10:13 am

what does rain say at the end of the third Speed Racer trailer??..
    “stop showing off” ???
    ot “top shutting up” ???

    o_O

  21. 21 yeoreum April 16, 2008 at 10:13 am

western people love asian beauty so i think they look forward to seeing jjh and shk…

as for me, i really love to see jang dong gun opposite kate b.

i even read somewhere about a GI telling the people around him that the most beautiful women he’s seen are Asian…

  22. 22 yeli April 16, 2008 at 10:16 am

    *or “stop shutting up” ???

    typo…

anyways, i couldn’t understand him very well but my guess is he said “stop showing off”…

    or “stop showing up” ???

    LOL i dont know..
i just hope he has good english for the rest of the film…

  23. 23 ekcc April 16, 2008 at 10:26 am

Wachowskis Brothers and Joel Silver are not idiot to choose someone who can’t act and speak in English. They saw the talent and charm of Rain. That’s why they chose Rain as a leading role in their next project, Ninja Assassin..

Rain’s English is good! It’s understandable.. and SEXY!!
And Rain’s saying, “Stop showing off”…

  24. 24 ^-^ April 16, 2008 at 10:28 am

popseoul, you forgot BOA! Or is she not debuting just yet?

  25. 25 amy April 16, 2008 at 10:30 am

    Daniel Henney<3<3<3

I would’ve thought more people picked Bi but ok!
    haha

Girl would be OSNG HYE GYO.

  26. 26 for real April 16, 2008 at 10:31 am

hah somebody said Boa, she can’t even speak english! And most of them don’t have much potential to star in the u.s. except Daniel who speaks fluent english

  27. 27 ekcc April 16, 2008 at 10:37 am

There’re thousands of actors who speak fluent english in Hollywood. They should’ve something different.. something special…

    English is just a tool…

  28. 28 vk April 16, 2008 at 10:38 am

    daniel!!! <333

but blood the vampire seems intersting.. i watched the anime too so i wanna know how it turns out!

  29. 29 xmissy April 16, 2008 at 10:38 am

    Daniel Henney ! yummmmmm.

  30. 30 Leigh April 16, 2008 at 10:40 am

    All!!!

  31. 31 marmar April 16, 2008 at 10:41 am

Daniel Henny. His the only one that you can understand perfectly when speaking English also his the only one that can hold a conversation. Not like others whom will get stuck for awhile.
Plus his gonna be in Xman Wolverine’s movie & X-man is a BIG TIME HOLLYWOOD Blockbuster movie.
So of course it’ll do well. Lots of ppl will turn out to watch it.
but I am looking forward to DB movie only because it’s Dragon Ball one of my favorite animes & plus it’s gonna have Jamie Chung from RW San Diego who happens to be one of my favorite RW members & they gonna have Spike from Buffy in it.
For the female I’m gonna go with SHK because she’s my fave.

  32. 32 Tiffany April 16, 2008 at 10:45 am

Daniel Henny since he can act, and he’s the only one I like out of all of them (I don’t know some of them though).

  33. 33 kelly April 16, 2008 at 10:47 am

Daniel Henney is a Hotty in this pix…He just makes me melt

  34. 34 Orange April 16, 2008 at 10:48 am

Definitely Jang Dong Gun !!! Laundry warrior all the way !!!

  35. 35 FTLove April 16, 2008 at 10:51 am

I love how some people get so defensive about Bi. The truth of the matter is, he’s not exactly what Americans would find attractive. I think he’s got great motivation and preserverance, okay singing skills, killer dance moves, and good acting skills, but do you really think it’s that easy to succeed in this world? Even with the publicity his getting (I should stress that it’s more negative with Stephen Colbert who has, I may warn, a lot of fans who think his parodies of Bi are hilarious), he’s going to have to really make an effort, have connections (he should NOT have left JYP), and first and foremost, learn the language.

  36. 36 mika April 16, 2008 at 10:54 am

I’d go for Xmen. Whoever actor/actress was given a chance to be part of the movie is exciting coz that’s a movie a lot of ppl would wanna watch.
But what the heck, Laundry Warrior? LOL

  37. 37 riksa April 16, 2008 at 11:01 am

Jang Dong Gun coz he’s the main character in Laundry Warrior

  38. 38 daniel April 16, 2008 at 11:06 am

Jang Dong Gun, Ha Jung Woo, Park Jun Hyung, Daniel Henney, JAng Hyuk, Jeon Ji Hyun
    =)

  39. 39 Love-Peace-Music April 16, 2008 at 11:07 am

although i personally don’t really like daniel henny’s acting, at least we can count on his solid english skills. but all of these debuts should be interesting…

  40. 40 KuKKIEZ April 16, 2008 at 11:11 am

Jun Ji Hyun DEFINITELY! Because she’s pretty and I love the anime Blood+ which came from the movie, Blood: The Last Vampire. :DDDD I CAN’T WAIT.

And sorta Rain too.. I can’t wait to see how ridiculous he looks :DD Haha Just Look At The Dude’s Hair!!!!

  41. 41 Me April 16, 2008 at 11:11 am

How come people keep forgetting Park Joon Hyung. He from US (not literally) and speak English too. I really looking forward for him in Speed Racer more than Rain.

  42. 42 Christine April 16, 2008 at 11:13 am

bloody hell. ALL OF THEM. <3 :D

  43. 43 janepak April 16, 2008 at 11:17 am

    most definitely daniel henney
he can not only speak english fluently, but his acting ability has improved so much ^^

  44. 44 mel April 16, 2008 at 11:19 am

I’m looking forward to seeing Jang Dong Gun In Hollywood’s big screen.

  45. 45 B April 16, 2008 at 11:23 am

I didn’t even know all of these were soon debuting in the US!! Either way , I’ll say all of them (although at the moment , SPEED RACER!!!! ♥ ), because they’re all Korean! LOL ( Or at least half ~~ :D )

  46. 46 ehoh April 16, 2008 at 11:24 am

all except #7- who, btw, looks like she’s ready to take a d*** in her mouth. nasty.

  47. 47 spin April 16, 2008 at 11:26 am

    Jang Hyuk & Jang Dong-gun

  48. 48 kiwi April 16, 2008 at 11:28 am

    SE7EN

    Why is he not on the poll? -_-;;

    Hmm next would be Janghyuk
and i guess Henney as well :]

  49. 49 lalala April 16, 2008 at 11:42 am

    WOW!!!

Popseoul, are your facts correct? Because if that’s in fact true, and ALL those starts are really debuting in Hollywood.. that’s Amazing!!!! I look forward to ALL of their debuts, this is huge! finally some quality korean stars debuting elsewhere than Asia!

  50. 50 lalala April 16, 2008 at 11:43 am

ps. I bet Dan Henney’s gonna be a hugeee hit. cuz then again, he’s the only one that can actually speak English, so he can charm them without a problem.. plus he’s gorgeoussssss

  51. 51 illdielaughing April 16, 2008 at 11:45 am

jun ji hun doesn’t really have a hollywood debut yet seeing as her movie may not be distributed in the United States.

    JEON JI HYUN……………….
I hope her debut will be a great success i’m hopin n crossn ma finger. vamus JJH

jun ji hun doesn’t really have a hollywood debut yet seeing as her movie may not be distributed in the United States.
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

how did you know? were did you get your info?

  54. 54 killerchopsticks April 16, 2008 at 11:54 am

Jun Ji-Hyun mainly because of the movie she is in. She’s the star of one of the live-action of one of my favorite animated features. And it will be distributed in the U.S. cause they keep repeating that it will be her U.S./Hollywood debut. Theres been a lot of dates (though it seem like it may be released in Fall ‘08). It will definitely find a distributor since its being produced by the people who did Crouching Tiger and House of Flying Dagger. Distributors won’t pass up the chance.

As for most likely to succeed, probably Daniel Henney. He’s got the acting chops and the language skills and is a good looking guy. In addition, most Americans can read his name with ease 8DD Joon Park’s English is fluent, but I’ve have no clue of his acting skills. It must be at least decent considering he auditioned for the part rather than just asked and been given too.

  55. 55 illdielaughing April 16, 2008 at 11:57 am

Well Pathe is a big finacier of the film and so far only Pathe and Blue Sky are slated to distribute in UK, France and Czech Republic.
I wrote about it on my blog and you can check out IMDB.com it’s all there.

  56. 56 illdielaughing April 16, 2008 at 11:58 am

Actually, there might not be a US distributor, you’d be surprised at the amount of movies that American stars are in that aren’t distributed in America.

  57. 57 fuhgeddaboutit April 16, 2008 at 12:09 pm

    my choices would be:
    Daniel Henney (X-men Origins: Wolverine)and
Jun Ji-hyun (Blood, the Last Vampire)

  58. 58 Critico April 16, 2008 at 12:16 pm

Expect this fact that will soon create an upset to all Rain’s fans.
THERE WILL BE NO RAINY DAYS IN HOLLYWOOD!
According from the movie reviews the “speed racer” will flop in Hollywood. Three of Hollywood’s well known movie reviews gives the movie a devastating average of 2/5 rating. Well according to them the adaptation base from crappy animated series will definitely wont work for the audiences they added this funny statement “ even my 8 year old brother won’t buy this crap ” poor rain.
    overall rating 2/5 2.5/5 2/5
Rain’s name not even mentioned, not even once.

  59. 59 nad April 16, 2008 at 12:19 pm

rain although i kinda can see that speed racer wont do much to his hollywood career
    ^_^*
jang hyuk, dance of dragon seems nice
daniel not because he can act (which is like 0.o for now) but because he is in a film that most likely to be box office….
    others
i pray for their success :P

  60. 60 wasted April 16, 2008 at 12:29 pm

To be honest. I expect no one from them will succeed in Hollywood. Too bad even my fave JJH will suffer from that fact. Year 2008 is bad year for Koreans Hollywood debut. A lot of monstrous Hollywood film will be release this 2008. Hellboy2, IronMan, Hulk?, the legend of the kingdom?. Surely these film will outshodowed the other films. I hope they’ll get the proper timing for the release of their hollywood debut films.

  61. 61 byul1232 April 16, 2008 at 12:42 pm

Hajungwoo for me! i think he’s an amazing guy who sorta fits into any role.
and i love how he speaks english. haha reminds me of my friend.

  62. 62 danniel henney April 16, 2008 at 12:55 pm

henney can act in korean TV and melodrama movie. but where can he fit into hollywood other than the exotic hunk? he cannot survive in hollywood on acting alone — there are way more better, more experienced than him. the competition is FIERCE in his own native language! unless he goes to network TV or B-movies. or the flavor-of-the-day handsome boyfriend recurring cameo in A-movies.

  63. 63 cocolalalatte April 16, 2008 at 1:04 pm

ill just hope, pray, and support them… even though they may not be recognized as much n’ become that successful in hollywood, i hope that will not stop them from doing what they love to do…

ill try to support n’ watch their movies…

  64. 64 JungWon April 16, 2008 at 1:25 pm

JANG DONG GUN’s Laundry Warrior, definitely and also JJH’s Blood, the last vampire coz both of them are seasoned actor/actress. I always look forward to their films.

  65. 65 Donski April 16, 2008 at 1:37 pm

henney, bb! HES FPUCKING HOT it burns.

  66. 66 Jill April 16, 2008 at 1:44 pm

what else?..Jang Dong Gun knocking off Kate Bosworth in ‘Laundry Warrior’..daymn! but seriously i hope all the K/stars will shine abit tho’ against their Hollywood counterparts..I saw Ha Jung Woo in ‘Never Forever’..and Vera Farmiga personally picked him to act..Man..he’s awesome..

  67. 67 Song April 16, 2008 at 1:45 pm

i didn’t even know that much people were doing a movie in Hollywood, but i guess, none, all of them, wish them all the best!

  68. 68 calla April 16, 2008 at 1:47 pm

    I’m looking forward to:
    1) Jang Dong Gun, just because he can truly act;
    2) Rain, just to give him a break, people!!!!
    3) Jang Hyuk, I got to see him dance, if nothing else.

I’m so NOT looking forward to:
    1) Song Hye Kyo - she cannot survive Hollywood a single minute with that dead acting of hers. Really.
    2) Danniel Henney - He has it - looks, language, body - but he’s the male counterpart of Song Hye Kyo. Dead in acting.

Others in the list, I don’t care one way or the other.

  69. 69 clara April 16, 2008 at 1:49 pm

I agree with Calla on Song Hye Gyo.

Honestly, I don’t think ANY of these actors and actresses will be able to make it in Hollywood. Or rather, even SURVIVE it for a moment.
I personally think they’re no where from being ready.

But maybe Daniel Henney, because he can actually speak English.

Hollywood is no place for fake cutsy or heroic acting.

  70. 70 DUMBO April 16, 2008 at 1:52 pm

Ha Jung Woo was awesome in Never Forever. That movie is the shiz and he’s probably the best actor of them all.

  71. 71 SP April 16, 2008 at 2:25 pm

So Daniel Henney is technically going to be covered for the most part of X Man: Wolverine? That sucks!!!

  72. 72 shuturmth April 16, 2008 at 2:30 pm

simple. none of them will make it

  73. 73 blah April 16, 2008 at 3:01 pm

  74. 74 :) April 16, 2008 at 3:06 pm

dont hate me but i think rain looks like a duck with kong-na-mul eyes. nothing against small eyes, but his look like kongnamuls that just add to his duckness.

  75. 75 ML April 16, 2008 at 3:20 pm

Song Hye-gyo and “Fetish” was in Variety:

    http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117976394.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

  76. 76 Scorpio April 16, 2008 at 3:30 pm

lots of pple here very skeptical about Rain ability in acting. yet he has proven that he got talent in that field
also about “english speaking fluency” topic, I love Kelly Hu in scorpion King and Xmen, yet she doesnt do well either. therefore Danniel Henney got the same chances as the rest of other actors.

jst bcos u can speak english fluently and good looking doesnt give u advantages to be cast in hollywood movie

  77. 77 confused April 16, 2008 at 3:41 pm

no doubt, Rain can act. that’s the reason why I’m gonna watch Speed Racer.

but now Fetish is grabbing my curiosity. :)

  78. 78 Dovey April 16, 2008 at 3:45 pm

I can’t choose. Best of luck to all of them!

  79. 79 hmm April 16, 2008 at 4:16 pm

i think number 1 and 2 because they both speak perfect english also they are actually pretty known…number i would say will mostly dominate though because hello, xman? who the hell would NOT watch that? and also he doesnt look as Asian so people probably give him more eye

  80. 80 moooo April 16, 2008 at 4:58 pm

How come Lee Byung Hun isn’t on there? I’ve read that he’s got two Hollywood movies coming soon - I Come With The Rain and GI Joe, both of which seems to be pretty big. Of the the eight up there, however, I’m putting my bet on Jang Dong Gun. Others that has a high possibility of making it big is Jeon Ji Hyun, Daniel Henney, and Rain respectively. I’m thinking maybe not so much for Song Hye Gyo because ‘Fetish’ is an indie flick and unless the film gets a lot of exposure, it’s unlikely that she’ll become famous in Hollywood quickly with an indie film. I was not even aware of Jang Hyuk acting in a Hollywood film to be honest. And as for Ha Jung Woo and Park Jun Hyung, Hollywood usually expects some kind of physical appeal and the two don’t necessarily have that IMO - but anything’s possible really, what with Ha Jung Woo’s awesome acting skills.

  81. 81 marmar April 16, 2008 at 5:04 pm

I know I’ll watch Speed Racer when it comes out on DVD but for box office…puhleaze..the graphics & everything looks so gay.
It’s corny as hell..too dayum computer graphic & too much bright colors.
Plus there gear is corny as hell.
The movie is so gonna FLOP!!

  82. 82 Joe April 16, 2008 at 5:19 pm

JUN JIHYUN HAS CHANGED HER NAME AS GIANNA JUN!! WOW!

  83. 83 iDAREyou April 16, 2008 at 5:41 pm

wtf? why a lot of you are saying Daniel Henney?
His role would probably be like a blink-and-you’ll-miss one! Have you guys seen the X-men trilogy? there’s like actors there that I haven’t seen in the movie that are in the credits.

    PLUS HE’S ALL FACE - CAN’T ACT..

I’m gonna say Lee Byung Hun. Next would be Jang Dong Gun and Jun Ji Hyun.

Ha Jung Woo would succeed in the indie scene, most definetely.

    no comments on the others

  84. 84 uniquetaste April 16, 2008 at 6:04 pm

I’m going for Ha jung woo!
I really like his actiing in H.I.T. Plus never forever :)
I’m sure he;ll do well in his debut.

  85. 85 Dumpling April 16, 2008 at 6:15 pm

Eh, I adore JDG the most of everyone on that list but I’m not really looking forward to his new movie all that much. I mean, I am (for him) but I’m scared. I think the movie is going to be pure crap. I mean, come on. Kate Bosworth?? Give me a break. And a plot about a warrior hiding out in a carnival in the American west? Give me another break. I just don’t see “great movie” written all over this.

I’m actually looking forward to Hye-Kyo’s independent movie.

  86. 86 Dumpling April 16, 2008 at 6:18 pm

I still can’t get over how anyone could name a movie something as stupid as “Laundry Warrior”. Right away, Americans will think this movie is a joke. It’s sad to admit but it’s the truth.

    Sorry about that, JDG, buddy.

  87. 87 gobuki April 16, 2008 at 6:23 pm

daniel henny! he’s probably the only who can last in hollywood… the rest can’t even speak english well

  88. 88 jen April 16, 2008 at 6:52 pm

can’t choose between rain and daniel henney~

  89. 89 fanny April 16, 2008 at 8:13 pm

I’m looking forward to seeing Song Hye Kyo and Jang Dong Gun…
wish all the best for both of them!

  90. 90 Avril April 16, 2008 at 9:02 pm

I wonder when the trailer for Blood: the last vampire will come out. Can’t wait to see JJH, SHG, Rain (his acting is really good), JDG, and Daniel Henney.

  91. 91 jp4675 April 16, 2008 at 9:07 pm

Jang Hyuk is a favorite of mine, so he’s definitely my pick…but probably his movie will have limited release in the US :(

    …in which case I’ll catch it on DVD… ;) :)

  92. 92 KaWaiiMegaMi April 16, 2008 at 9:17 pm

    JEON JIHYUN aLL the way!!!
    =)

  93. 93 fraulein April 16, 2008 at 10:07 pm

At the risk of offending lots of fangirls, IMO, Daniel Henney cannot act - I’ve seen My lovely samsoon (any noticed how stiff he was?) and Seducing Mr Perfect, that flick with Uhm Jung-hwa.

Apart from his ability to speak fluent english, I dont see how he thumps the rest. At best, he’ll get to be a B grade flick or some day time soap.

For some reason, he reminds me of Antonio Sabato Jnr, good to look at, nothing much else.

  94. 94 mylasan April 16, 2008 at 10:23 pm

    Definitely, Jang Dong Gun.

  95. 95 Sarai April 16, 2008 at 10:47 pm

Daniel Henney. He can already speak English, so… that’s half the battle.

  96. 96 Fanny April 16, 2008 at 10:49 pm

    me… can’t wait for SHG indie’s film

  97. 97 Gaijin April 16, 2008 at 10:56 pm

Oh great, Song Hye-Gyo is a mediocre actresss in Korea.. now she can be a mediocre actress in an American independent film. Oh joy! Now I can say, “I laughed, I cried, I kissed ten dollars goodbye”!

  98. 98 wouldnt u like to know April 16, 2008 at 11:05 pm

of course im going to have to go with Rain!
not only did he do an awesome job on the movie (i was a set assistant) but hes an animal in bed. Yes i had a fling with him and the rumors are not true when it comes to Rain, because he was PACKING!!!! and hes a freak, lets just say that he has a motor tongue :P

  99. 99 se7enfan April 16, 2008 at 11:11 pm

Actually none of them…all of the titles to those movies seem really like typical type-cast Asian roles except for number 8…I could be wrong but its really not that much of a debut if they’re doing Karate…and the movie with the title Fetish…I just hope its not what I think it is going to be about.

  100. 100 se7enfan April 16, 2008 at 11:12 pm

Oh my bad except for Daniel Henny so I change my answer…and pick Number 1.

  101. 101 yixx April 16, 2008 at 11:21 pm

All of them… Their are Korean so just all of them, btw where is Lee Byun hoon ? his work in G.I. Joe

  102. 102 angel26_j April 16, 2008 at 11:24 pm

    Danniel Henney…
Seriously, out of all of them, he is most qualified..
English, Look, appearance. He seems fit there.. The others, I’m not sure…
I know me and my frenz will go watch X-man for Daniel Henney’s appearance.. And we’ll probably borrow the dvd for the rest. No offence to any of their fans..
But good luck to all of them! Hollywood will surely be hard..

  103. 103 han April 17, 2008 at 12:00 am

what ? SHK is on the list too?. I don’t doubt her talent but her english? hmmm… SHe’s (and JJH) sure pretty in asian perspective but in Hollywood standards i’m sorry to say they lack of something. However I”m proud and GLAD majority pick DANNYYYYYYYY…. GOOOOOOOOO OPPPAAAAAAAA..can’t wait for his movie

  104. 104 iDAREyou April 17, 2008 at 12:05 am

YAY, he’ll succeed the most out of all of them because he can speak English. whhaaaa??

this is insane lol. Who else speaks English in Korean entertainment industry, send them to Hollywood. THEY’LL SURELY SUCCEED!!!

  105. 105 jajaja April 17, 2008 at 12:28 am

    @ iDAREyou

    @ iDAREyou April 17, 2008 at 12:05 am

    ‘am agree with u..
the guy likes Danny.. the’re tons in Hollywood.. nothing special.. although he’s/she’s not fluent in English it doesn’t matter.. as long as his/her acting was good.. (exp. a Korean actor in LOST )

btw I heard JDG English was good.. so he’ve got more chances though..he..he.

good luck for all of them.. espc.. JDG,SHK, and Rain!
    fighting !!!

  109. 109 peepoo April 17, 2008 at 2:00 am

seriously, the only one who stands a chance at getting any recognition in america after their film comes out is Daniel Henney…not b/c he’s a great actor (and i’m being sarcastic) but b/c he looks white…not to mention X-Men is blockbuster material. the rest will just be another asian in a movie. middle america can’t relate to anyone who doesn’t look or act like them.

  110. 110 Not Really April 17, 2008 at 2:08 am

We’re all excited to see Speedracer here in the US. I have passes for the local IMAX, so I’ll be seeing there when it comes out. Of course, I’m telling everyone who will listen about Korea’s contribution of two massive hotties. I can’t wait!

  111. 111 Not Really April 17, 2008 at 2:32 am

…and Park Joon Hyung is the yummiest!

  112. 112 Dumpling April 17, 2008 at 3:26 am

Speaking English doesn’t make anyone a better actor.

  113. 113 Lulia April 17, 2008 at 4:25 am

WHAAAAAAAAAAA NUMBER 1,2,3,5,6AND8 ALL LOOKING SUPER SEXY!

    OPPAS HWAITING !D

  114. 114 haj April 17, 2008 at 4:29 am

i think daniel henney will appeal more to americans

  115. 115 BKJSuh April 17, 2008 at 4:33 am

Well, Henney is only “half” Korean… besides its Xman which IMO it is fair to say that it is popular.

  116. 116 Sarah April 17, 2008 at 5:26 am

    Of course Rain
not because im fan of Rain also he work with famous Hollywood actors, Besides Rain has a great acting talent, i cant wait to the movie

  117. 117 jasmine April 17, 2008 at 6:01 am

Daniel Henney although i love alot of those ppl above but the fact that he is AMERICAN makes it different ^^ it’ll be easier for him to break through i believe..the others have to work on their english first..specially Bi

  118. 118 Taejus April 17, 2008 at 6:11 am

AS MUCH AS I WOULD LOVE TO WATCH RAIN LOOKIN’ ALL SEXY IN SPEED RACERS AND ALL, I WOULD RATHER WATCH X-MEN ORIGINS SINCE I’M AN X-MEN FAN, AND I THINK DANIEL HENNEY IS JUST AS HOT. OH, I CANNOT WAIT^^

THEN MAYBE I’LL WATCH SPEED RACERS.

Oopps I was typing in caps, o well.

  119. 119 Copper April 17, 2008 at 6:48 am

I think all of you are missing the true point or afraid to point out the real deal on who’s going to be make it in hollywood.

Acting, looks, and english skills are very important but the bottom line comes down to the color of one’s skin. Asians, particularly asian men aren’t accepted in more broader roles other than stereotypical thugs and martial art experts. Jackie Chan is the only asian male actor to have lasted so long in hollywood consistently as a main actor due to his accepted role as a comical martial artist even though his english sucks and looks average. From 8 actors listed above, Daniel Henney has the best shot to reach stardom primarily due to the color of his skin. His english ability, looks meaning half white features, and his Name(certainly doesn’t sound asian) will be more accepted by audience and hollywood which are run by whites. Everyone knows Daniel’s acting ability sucks, but it’s a shame that color of one’s skin will be the deciding choice. I could see Daniel Henney become something like Keanu Reeves, those of you who didn’t know…Mr. Reeves is also a mixed asian breed.

Daniel, you are a lucky bastard…I hope you acknowledge your Korean bloodline and who gave you a chance to act when/if you make it big unlike Mr. Reeves who never acknowledged his Chinese side.

  120. 120 sweetie14 April 17, 2008 at 7:58 am

    daniel duh~ he’s SO SEXY~!!!

  121. 121 day walker April 17, 2008 at 8:50 am

i dont know why i even came to this place coz yeah… people here seem to be very ****

looking at the Reality out there, well… needless to say how much Rain gets better coverage compare of those actors/actress on the list. i’ve got to say Rain still on top of the game.

about most of you said of Danniel something stand a better chance just based on ‘looks & english’ - oh c’mon folks, hollywood isnt that small minded, the half blodded fluent english speaking ‘Maggie Quincy’ cannot even surpass Zang Zi Yi’s success in Hollywood.
or what about Mr. Chan’s English??? well, obviously it’s not the main parameter to gain success or at least recognition in Hollywood’s roller coaster ride.

thus, instead of guessing and putting personal oppinion let’s do some market research and reality check!!!!!

damn, i forget it’s not the critic column in Washington Journal. what do i expected???

    i dont vote though!

btw, since i know nothing bout daniel, did he ever win or nominated as best actor in at least one international award like Zang Zi Yi, Rain, Jacky Chan, ken Watanabe, Chow yun fa, or Gong li????
honestly, those are the asian actors/actresses i’ve ever heard their names since i’m limited to US entertainers only.
    i’m sorry for my ignorance!!!!

  122. 122 day-wrecker April 17, 2008 at 9:03 am

As far as this whole crap is concern! You got it wrong!
Rain won’t make it! The only advantage Rain’s from the pack was his name “RAIN” seems to easy to said and remember! But for the acting part? Rain wont’t even remember by that! His acting was only midcore level. If you want to create an impact in Hollywood you must show beyond ordinary, extracordinay. Bt sad to say Rain doesnt have that! Rain has no place in Hollywood? So give me idea’s where you think Rains talent should fit? Singing carrier? way off dude! Acting? Hollywood will rather choose indies and japs for asian goffy rulez.
So Rain pls stick your @ss in Korea ok! Ill be happy watchn you doin some local soaps and movies

  123. 123 Ladeeda April 17, 2008 at 9:08 am

Jang Dong Gun’s movie seems iffy, but I want him to succeed the most. Followed by Jeon Ji Hyun because I’m sick and tired of Zhang ZiYi being the sole asian chick who kicks butt in Hollywood films. But I gotta agree with Copper than Daniel Henney has all the right ingredients to make it big in Hollywood (looks, big movie, half-caucasian)…except for talent. But that didn’t stop Keeanu Reeves, did it?

  124. 124 Ladeeda April 17, 2008 at 9:08 am

    *that*

  125. 125 day-wrecker April 17, 2008 at 9:17 am

liu yee fee + Jeon Ji hyun + song hye kyo
wow the Asian Goddess will invade Hollywood.
    Wishn you all the best

  126. 126 Tinybubbles April 17, 2008 at 9:29 am

Daniel Henny is HOT as hell! Yeah baby! Can’t wait to see him alongside Hugh Jackman! Double hotnesss! Haha. This movie is the bomb! XD

  127. 127 chuchu April 17, 2008 at 11:46 am

People keep writing about ability to speak English. Jet Li couldn’t speak English worth a darn when he first started out (still can’t IMO) and his movies were and still are doing pretty good (mainly because of his ability to fight). And, I’m sorry but Jet Li don’t look too good and the dude is super short for a Hollywood star. In other words, he doesn’t have what most would consider Hollywood star qualities but he still does pretty good in Hollywood. Point I’m trying to make is…you gotta have something unique about you to make it in Hollywood. Not just an ability to speak English or have good looks.

  128. 128 hannah April 17, 2008 at 12:20 pm

rain sounds to wierd speaking in english…i saw him on mtv trying to converse with omarion and the vj…it sounded comical.
if i had to pick i would choose daniel henney

  129. 129 Hnou April 17, 2008 at 12:32 pm

OMG I have no clue that Daniel Henny was going to be in X-man that is too awesome! wow thats too awesome..lol

RAIN of course I’ve been waiting for his debut
for years now..i can’t wait.the only reason why im going to watch speed racer is because of RAIN. I don’t care if it sucks all i care is seeing RAIN on the big scree.

  130. 130 romar April 17, 2008 at 12:52 pm

    Definitely, DANIEL HENNEY.

  131. 131 chuchu April 17, 2008 at 12:59 pm

The two most likely to succeed in Hollywood are:

    a. JDG - this guy is extremely good looking with an appeal that can probably cross cultural lines. Don’t want to offend anyone but when I first saw him, I thought he was Mexican, then I thought Malaysian then I thought some other race but Korean…no way! Not being able to exactly pinpoint/nail down his look might work to his advantage in the long run. Directors may go after a person with looks that can appeal to the widest audience. He is also a very talented actor with a classy not trashy sex appeal.

    b. Rain - he still has a huge following all over Asia. My guest is that Hollywood directors are going to put people in their movies they think will appeal to a wide market to make them the most money. Rain is that guy for the Asian population at the moment. He is what JLo and Beyonce have called themselves - a triple threat. He can sing, dance and act. He does all three fairly decently which might give him an edge over some of the other folks listed above.

  132. 132 deeyoysee April 17, 2008 at 3:14 pm

DANIEL HENNEY! x-men is x-men! and im sure that my ears won’t hurt listening to daniel henney’s articulation–he speaks english well.

  133. 133 choo April 17, 2008 at 5:00 pm

I saw Kate Bosworth’s guesting on David Letterman, I think, and she talked about Laundry Warrior, and it, uhm, sounded corny. I like JDG but this movie is not really something that would make him known in Hollywood.

I would definitely watch Speed Racer because it’s the first one to be shown among the others’ films. :)

JJH’s on Blood? Not really a turning point.

I would rather watch SHG’s Fetish.

  134. 134 RainEva April 17, 2008 at 5:53 pm

    I think even RAIN could’nt
speak English well, for me,he is suited to be
    hollywood or american actor,..

I think speaking english well is not
really important as long as you understand
what you are talking and there’s no
    problem with that,..

    RAIN is very hardworking,even he’s
making a movie at the same time
    studying english,he ignore everything
just to give us a new RAIN,..hehe

I think im out of the topic,…lol

    Daniel Henney speak english well
because he grow up in states
while RAIN grow up in KOREA,..Haleer

    GO RAIN!!!

  135. 135 RainEva April 17, 2008 at 5:59 pm

So for me absolutely RAIN is suited,…

I like Jang Dung Gun also but i love
    RAIN more,..

Hey by the way RAIN can speak english
well now,..So those who criticized him.
you have stop it,because your annoying me…just kidding..

RAIN is the best, from nothing and now he
had own company…So what more can you ask for,..

    IT’S RAINING!!!

  136. 136 Da April 17, 2008 at 6:11 pm

    whoo! SHG’s second! :D haha

  137. 137 Dumpling April 18, 2008 at 2:02 am

    @ choo

Kate looked like she was embarrassed by her own movie, didn’t she?

  138. 138 YEHLDHKTH April 18, 2008 at 3:52 am

SONG HYE GYO, she’s not only very beautiful
She is very good performer / actress.

  139. 139 deeyoysee April 18, 2008 at 4:05 am

raineva, we should bear in mind that we also should refer to the american audience considering that we are talking about hollywood movies. i dont want to be biased as much as possible but reality check, do you thing the audience would appreciate an actor who cannot articulate well? dont get me wrong, i like rain too and i dont mean to offend his fans. sure he’s hardworking and that he can act well..but he’s not making a silent movie! he has dialogues, he has to exchange lines and if he couldnt speak english well, would he resort to sign language then? and i dont think it wont matter whether rain grew up in korea or not, kim tae hee speaks english well but she grew up in korea.see,it doesnt really matter where you’re from, what’s important is that the actors give what the people deserve as much as the support given to these actors.

  140. 140 deeyoysee April 18, 2008 at 4:07 am

*what i meant to say at the last line is that what’s important is that the actors should give what the people deserve as mush as the support the fans give to these actors

  141. 141 day walker April 18, 2008 at 2:04 pm

day-wrecker & deeyoysee — sadly, Rain has made it far better than anything you have mentioned. not based on my personal oppinion like yours, but based on the reality out there. like it or not REALITY has chose its own story.

quote from Speed Racer’s director as well as Ninja Assassin’s producer JOEL SILVER “Rain on screen presence will blow your mind, he has a performance that commands attention”

yeh.. he has a job to promote the star who played on his movie and in the middle of filming of his next movie. suppose that it means something… plus Joel silver knows american/worlwide audiences better than you, right??? and why he and those wachowskys were so recklessly decided to have Rain as their LEAD on his next movie?? hmmm… just said they have blind spot on RAIN like those fans.

Joel Silver’s latest movie The Brave one has entered several awards ceremonies in the states. he is being well known as one of the hollywiid movie mogul and the A-listed movie producer and director. his among largerly well known movies are Die Hard & The Matrix.

btw, who is KIM TAE HEE??
    and who needs reality check???

  142. 142 lenna April 18, 2008 at 3:22 pm

i didn’t even know this many people were breaking into hollywood.

  143. 143 deeyoysee April 18, 2008 at 3:34 pm

as ive mentioned earlier, i dont mean to offend any actor’s fans..i know that rain is an asian phenomenon,no doubts about that. with regard to the statement made by the director & producer, im sure they would want to say the right words so as to promote the movie. and i dont think that any director or producer would say their actor is not doing good or something to that effect. and im sure that the producer of the film would stop every negative thing about the movie that may leak. i know someone better than me knows the audience well but im basing my reaction on the trend among asians who join the hollywood fever. i dont know if there’s discrimination or something but if you’d notice, there are sooooo many asians who have tried their luck in hollywood but only few have succeeded. btw, check out kim tae hee here in popseoul..i wonder why you dont know her. where have you been all this time?

  144. 144 deeyoysee April 18, 2008 at 3:47 pm

and one more thing ive noticed..rain’s fans have always been defensive. well, there’s nothing wrong about that. if other people would say bad words about my favorite actor, i would have been that defensive as well. but the thing is, some people who comment about rain are not really saying “bad words” about him. we call that constructive criticisms which are supposedly negative comments which if viewed on a different light would actually be helpful to the actor. why not use these criticisms to improve the actor’s craft? and im sure, more people would appreciate your favorite actor/s far better. and i just hope that the fans (every actor’s fans) would respect other people’s choices. if they like somebody else, let them be.if there are people who think that someone is better than your favorite actor, accept it.each is entitled to his own opinion.for you, your favorite actor is the best but for others, he’s the worst and vice versa

  145. 145 riki April 19, 2008 at 1:38 am

if daniel could make it in america he never would have came to korea. he is an opportunist he was looking for an easy way into the industry without having to pay his dues. you dont see will yun lee going to korea doing korean movies to make a quick buck/be a huge star and he speaks korean FLUENTLY.

i am supporting rain and jang hyuk all the way. i hope they be successful.

i didnt hear about any of these movies except for wolverine, dragon ball and speed racer. i hope that they will do blood justice because it was a great anime but why are they using korean actors instead of japanese? i so hope it wont be like that bomb memoirs of a geisha (eriko would have done a much better job than ziyi and she is japanese).

PLEASE VOTE FOR RAIN ON PEOPLE. DONT LET COLBERT WIN.
    KOREA FIGHTING!!!
