Copycat suicide: Jang Chae-won ends life

Oh. This is so sad. Again, we have to report the news of another tragic death.

Transgender entertainer, Jang Chae-won committed suicide on October 3rd.  Upon hearing the news of the Choi Jin-shil’s death, ‘next Harisoo” told a friend that she understood what she must have been going through. Later that night at 20:17, the 26 year old left a message on her Cyworld stating “I’m sorry mom, next time I’ll do better.” Using the same method, Jang Chae-won was found dead in her bathroom at 22:50.

Rest in peace.

Please….no more.

  5. Fleep♥ says:

like i said before these stars need to learn its not shameful to talk about their worries with a shrink. it could save lives. and on the money side of things perhaps their managers should be watching out for them because if their star dies their money drys up.

  6. Minju says:

This is really sad… but I don’t know if the first picture will really help her image on Popseoul… because I was also really turned off by it… her eyes are kind of scary, really too big, and reminds me of that madagascar baby lemur…

in any case, still, this is really sad. rip, though, I didn’t know who you were.

  8. Vamp Charisma says:

  11. Korean Ajusshi says:

Thsi celebs isn’t the only one copycatting CJS’s suicide. There are reports that three or four ordinary Korean citizens, men and women, also followed her.

  12. cattleya says:

it is expected that many will follow CJS’ suicide. that is why i consider suicide a selfish act. CJS(R.I.P.) is a pillar in the industry, she who had risen from a fall, eventually killed herself. definitely that would influence those who are having mental illness and add to that the stressful life in Korea. and i know there will be more suicide cases this year compare when Lee Eun Joo killed herself. CJS is a well-respected actress and has been in the industry for 20 years…her suicide could influence many people…even those in the same industry that she was in.

i only hope that those celebrities who had had unsuccessful projects who are depressed because they do not have receive offers to have a series or movie will not simply feel self-pity and will follow CJS.

i had enough of this suicide thing…it is freaky when it is not Halloween yet!

    R.I.P.

  13. Elizabeth says:

is anyone providing any of these stars mental health counseling. somebody needs to address these issues. i think this is horrible.

  14. cattleya says:

oh my there is another one who just committed suicide on the 7th. he is a model/talent named KIM JI HOO.

  15. glue2gether says:

Entertainers are simply human. No different from the general public. Everyone of us are living under pressure. Various pressures.

Don’t say that it only happens to entertainers. Don’t say that entertainers lead the trend, or the domino effect. People should be responsible for themselves respectively. They were all over 18! No other people should be blamed for in these circumstances.

The media and the citizens only concerned about the trend set by whom and whom, and sympathy going to whom and whom. Why don’t give positive alternatives to educate the public?

Three important messages should be transmitted to the public to stop the trend:

    (1) They were wrong! Those committing suicide were completely wrong! What they did was a big mistake.

    (2) If mentally ill, seek counselling and follow through expert’s instructions.

    (3) Only those who can get through difficulties would be highly regarded in the society.

Sympathy alone is no use to stop the trend.

Only do the correct messages help!

  16. tashii says:

If it wasn’t for the fact that it’d be really disrespectful to criticise a person who’d just passed away, I would have LOOOOVED to go into a long rant about how the strategic camera angle and photoshopped eyes in the first picture… REALLY TURNS YOU OFF.

  17. chichi says:

oh god. everytime i go to popseoul, another human has ended his/her life. What’s wrong with korea?

    RIP.

  18. Doraemon says:

whoa, those are some freaky eyes.
i dont get it, why did she/he ended his/her life?
    its soo random….

  19. bronxbaby101 says:

HOW DARE U CALL IT A COPY CAT SUICIDE! THAT IS SO DIRESPECTFUL AND YOU SHOULD WRITE AN APOLOGY ARTICLE!

  20. aminjayp says:

um…. again? well, is it easy to end up like this?

  21. Silverlenses says:

    Rest in peace!

    It’s so sad…

  22. ize101 says:

what is this? a new trend in
    korea right now!?

do they really wanna play with
    their lives like that?

  23. JULIO says:

Seriously, something needs to be done. Being alarmed about the deaths is not enough. these events are depressing. they should have resident psychologists/ counselors or anybody to talk to. geez.

  24. propertyof1tym says:

koreans have serious issues…i’m serious, they need some licensed psychologist, some REAL Psychologist.

  25. aina says:

    her face is scary…sorry.

  26. CHEE says:

She or he was so pretty. Why?

    Rest in peace with love.

  27. majarot says:

I think people should stop posting those hurtful comments so this things can be avoided… So sad to know that many Korean celebrities are committing suicide because of stupid rumors and comments posted on the internet and anywhere by those crazy people…

  28. […] entertainment industry with the loss of Choi Jin-shil, Kim Suk-gyun,  Lee Suh-hyun, Kim Ji-hoo, Jang Chae-won, Ahn […]

  29. nodamehime says:

seriously people. value your life. it’s not the end of the world if you feel depressed or someone has been saying bad things about you or even if your having trouble with material things (money). What are your friends for? Don’t you people think that you’re insulting your friends because you don’t trust them enough to share your problems with them? or ask them for advise and help for that matter. these series of deaths are really depressing for families and others who hear the news. Be proactive people. There are millions of things that you can do to cope with everyday problems.

think of how your moms suffered just to bring you to this world. how would they feel and think if you’ll end it this way (by suicide)? I think it’s being insensitive in a way. Think about the families that were left behind as well….

RIP to the departed. but please people. stop. reflect. have a break if necessary and stay away from the limelight, if this causes stress to you. don’t take your life for granted. it’s a gift. strive to live a happy life and be contented.

  30. SYSY says:

I am living in Changwon, here the corean people is very nice, I think they are so polite…their government teach them the respect and love to the others, but maybe have to teach also repsect and love for their lives, the life is full of problems but is beautiful, I can’t understand how some mother commit suicide and left her babies alone….think about people, corea is an small but powerfull country, full of nice and well educated people, no more suicides, if you are sad, talk with somebody, and never hear the envious people when they talk or write.
    GOOD BLESS YOU COREA!

  31. Kiyana says:

hmmm no more copykat suicides or suicides please someone talk to people who are like this i wish she was still here even though i don’t know her

  32. awesome says:

This just proves that Korea has left God, too much wordly fantasy has left them of the centrality of God. All the Korean tv programs that rivet its society are filled with good feelings and not much about the dependence of God. The result of fame and glory of their own performances adulated by the mass is: death. Sadness despite the popularity and one’s outstanding achievements and nothing for God has brought a many to constant deaths and early ending of it all. Sorry. Korea, wake up, Christians do something!!! Where and how that Cho Yonggi’s church, being the greatest population of a church in the whole of Christendom has much to learn about impacting the media and the young people. You are losing your young people to the distractions and offers of the world, Korea.

    • Seongin says:

      @awesome
Many suicides happening in Korea are because of their extreme hold on Christianity and the ignorance it brings, not a lack of it.
