Does 2NE1 set your roof on fire?

YG Entertainment has finally released a whole minute version of 2NE1’s “Fire,” after four days of stupid teasers that haven’t really impress that much. The full minute version, however, does show a lot of promise.

With swagger equivalent to the big boys and the sassiness of divas, 2NE1 is looking to punch all the other girl groups in the face with their badass style. Although their style still reminds me of Big Bang, the song does sound like it is going to catch on like wild fire. The reggae beat brings some hot spice to Korea, and it is definitely refreshing compared to all the cutesy lala and booty shaking stuff we’ve been getting lately with other girls groups (*cough, Kara, T-ara, Wondergirls, Girls Generation)

As for the members of 2NE1, the initial profile pictures are extremely bizarre.  Gong Min-ji look like a little boy from the 80s and Sandara Park being blasphemous with her “Hindi” inspired outfit.

However, the pictures for rapper CL and Park Bom are much more normal though. Love the big flashy rings. And the lego rings are TIGHT. With all this absurd imagery, one has to wonder what their MVs will be like.

For any further analysis, it is still early in the game though. With two impending music videos promising “variety” and a debut stage on May 17th, there is still plenty of time for 2NE1 to show us whether they really know how to light our fire or if they will burn themselves.
