Bae Yong-joon is a busy man

Arriving by helicopter, Bae Yong-joon was recently awarded the Hwa-Gwan Order of Culture Merit by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on October 18th. The 35 year old promised to promote Korean culture to the world through dramas, his restaurant business and other cultural activities. We know that all of the proceeds going straight into his own pockets.
Not to be left out, designer Andre Kim and singer Jang Nara were also presented at the ceremony to receive the Bo-Gwan Order of Culture Merit and Today’s Young Artist Award, respectively.

Don’t worry…once his contract with The Face Shop ends then he can cut back on the beauty treatments. He only started going there several times a week b/c being the perfectionist that he is, he needed his skin to be perfect. I am not sure if he would have lost the contract if his skin wasn’t up to the standards that The Face Shop wanted or if he decided to make ritual salon visits b/c he is insecure about the condition of his skin. Hopefully Mr. Bae would go back to his original, non-perfect skin and we can finally see his wonderful face structure.

I am not going to compare the acting abilities of both the actors b/c acting is subjective in my opinion…I might hate a performance while another might consider it brilliant.

I think you need a clarification as to what marketing really is. Marketing consists of 4Ps…there is Product, Price, Place and Promotion.
1. Jang Dong Gun shi stars in the movies and dramas shown in the links that you have provided however, that doesn’t mean that he controls the product.
2. Now if he doesn’t control the product how can he control its price, the place it gets sold from or even how it is promoted/advertised.
As POP THIS has mentioned before, Jang Dong Gun shi doesn’t promote himself the way that Mr. Bae does…he doesn’t sell kimchi jars, bento boxes or teddy bears.
1.Mr. Bae’s company makes the kimchi jars, the bento boxes, the teddy bears and someone already mentioned how The Legend was produced by Mr. Bae’s company…so that means he does control his dramas as well.
2.Now if his company produces those products then they are able to set a price for them.
3.They are able to decide where they get sold.
4.Mr. Bae’s company even decided who the products will be promoted/advertised…his company makes limited edition bento boxes and teddy bears…wonder why? keeping something in a limited number will make it a scarcity and thus promotes it as being a luxurious item.

That is so true. Did you know that at one of his fan meetings, he left before anyone else and stood behind the door…he waited there to give a surprise to his fans. For each fan that had come, Jang Dong Gun shi had a rose ready. He personally handed out a single rose to each and every fan as they came out one by one.
Did I mention that a stampede didn’t occur at this meeting unlike other fan meetings/ autograph sessions.

Normally I have made it a policy to take whatever a fan/admirer of Mr. Bae says about him with a very large grain of salt though this time I am requesting for proof. Please give an example of one of those offers that was given.

When CNN decided to interview a Korean celebrity they choose Jang Dong Gun shi. This just means that when the West thinks of a celebrity to represent Korea they choose him.
First of all, I just want say something about the link. Pirated products are not allowed to be sold on that site. In Japan, the copyright law is the most stringent among asian countries. They have periodical monitoring.

Answer. JDG has already established his own company Star M. Since he is one of the stockholders, like BYJ, he can likewise decide practically everything about his career and everything that is there to decide whether it is for the selection of projects as an actor, endorsements, and even copyrights to the products that will carry his photo or name.
2. Now if he doesn’t control the product how can he control its price, the place it gets sold from or even how it is promoted/advertised.
Answer. Per may answer above, even if a star did not participate in the promotion or advertisement of the product, the producer of the product will still have to pay him royalties for using his name/photograph for their products, but you’re right, he can not control the price, the producer can. Of course the producer is in business, so he will add the cost of making the product, the promotion expenses and of course JDG’s royalty and remunerations plus other expenses such as shipping etc. The price of the product will then be decided.

You’re right, his company can control the prices as well as the quality of the products because his company Key East is involved in producing cultural products and BOFi is in charge of the promotion and distribution. By producing official products, they can fight against low quality pirated goods which of course can damage YJ’s high class image. On top of this, he can give priority to Korean made products and services which is the main objective of his company, to help boast Korean economy and spread Korean culture overseas.

Answer. Yes, they can set the price as my answer above, they are in serious business, they plan, produce, promote and distribute their own products. Btw, it’s not only YJ products that they are marketing, they market SJS’s, LNY’s, etc. too.

Answer. Yes, they decide where and when it’s going to be sold. Of course, Japan is the biggest market. That is why they established an online shopping site. They need a venue to sell their products to the consumers.

There is a very reliable source, and of course if was already posted everywhere in baesites and the source of course is very reliable, Mr Fumi who works with cultural exchange projects in various countries for Korean Government. YJ was offered few years ago around 2005 (pardon me he did not say the title) to star in hollywood but he turned down the offer. Those producers were stunned and surprised and their pride was very much hurt. I think they are not used to this situation.

There’s a sister who has connections in hollywood and she said YJ turned down an offer to star with Julia Roberts in a film about Japanese prince who fell in love with American woman.
There quite a number of rumours in the newspapers that he was indeed offered but isn’t keen to be in hollywood cos he made it clear that it is his main goal is to unite the Asian culture. He said also that other stars can do the other things (like being successful in hollywood).

That makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy that he turned down the offer of playing a Japanese prince and sad b/c he was offered the role of a Japanese prince. I have no personal enmity with Japanese people but I believe we all Asians kind of get mad when non-Asians confuse our nationality.
As much as Mr. Bae probably adores his Japanese fans…any Asian will feel angry if they were mistaken to be some other nationality. Though you kind of answered a question of mine before I even had a chance to ask it…I was wondering, if Mr. Bae is such a big celebrity as his fans make him out to be then why wasn’t he interviewed by CNN…turns out the West considers him Japanese in of Korean.

First of all…thank you for wishing such a nice thing for Jang Dong Gun shi. Second of all, I can’t say anything about Mr. Kim but Jang Dong Gun shi isn’t a friend of Mr. Bae’s…and that is a FACT! The only link between them I believe is that, Mr. Bae admires Jang Dong Gun shi’s height.

It is true that only close friends and relatives are made best man and maid of honor. Though as far as godfathers and godmothers go…that is purely based on religion.
KSW is Catholic. In Catholicism you pick a godparent for your children, now why would Jang Dong Gun shi take part in this religious ceremony since he is a Buddhist. On the other hand, Mr. Bae is Catholic, so of course he was the next and best choice for KSW to pick.
