KBS wants Seungri to “clap”

Seungri_090105

Korea’s largest broadcasting station, KBS is demanding that the lyrics for Seungri’s first solo effort, “Strong Baby” be changed if he wants to perform on their music programs. Specifically, they find the word, “crack” as inappropriate. And ajusshis at KBS want the word changed to “clap,” which in English can mean one of two things: the verb to “clap” or a venereal disease. And if the pronunciation is bad, then the word “clap” can sound like “crab” which again can mean one of 2 things: the delicious crustacean or another std (which is not delicious). Or worse still, a slight mis-pronunciation can turn the word into “crap” again means 1 of 2 things, a strong expression akin to “sh*t” or a slang for the #2 deed.

So we would like to suggest to KBS to just keep the word “crack.” Besides, Seungri has already performed the G-dragon written song on MBC and SBS.

What’s the big deal?

Oh, Korea. You are such a joke when it comes to this sh*t.

  2. baybeevy says:

maybe the guy thinks the word

    crack
    as in the drugg :/

  3. cutefloatie says:

I think he looks too young. Just not so hot. I think someone a little older will fit the concept better.

  4. lorish says:

I like the crack part. it’s something new. if this song is in the states, I’m sure it will be BIG.
    I don’t understand why people don’t. LOL

    I LOVE IT!!

  5. SUJULOVER says:

~ he voice is just lovelyy

  6. whatever says:

your last line, “what’s the big deal?” exactly, it’s not a big deal, but ppl in korea just like to make things difficult.

at least they’re addressing the change in lyrics quite early unlike dbsk who learned about the banning of their lyrics after they had performed mirotic a million times!

  7. ella says:

the song is kinda cool and he’s cute but… hell he CANNOT sing…. sounds CRAPpy hahaha… sigh. so whichever way he sings it.. he still wont be that successful orz…

  8. woowwiee says:

wow..at first i thought he was saying cry cry cry.
    instead of crack crack crack.

i dont get why the work crack would go in there
and why they would want to replace the words to clap.
    that makes no sense.
    like i get its bad.
but..its not like a cuss word or anything.

  9. anarielle says:

I like this song and sincerely the the “crack chrack crack” thing doesn’t make sense for anyone.I just hope that the clap will turn into crap with korean accent. The next live will be diverting ^^
But that’s really amusing how KBS censores the “crack” and accept the sexual content of this song.
It’s like the government were on a huge communications operation since rain’s magic stick… Are they searching adult approval piking randomly some strange words in songs “look at that we take care of the youth’s moral”…

That censorship make the artist more attractive to young people and the sexual content is still here, and if they want more they have western songs (does the government censor them ?)

  10. Noodle says:

Crack sounds much, much better. And it’s a fresh idea too.
I just found out about this song. Now, how did he get that body? I want to know!!
He’s 18, and in Korea, I don’t think he should be showing a sexy scene, even if he’s perceived to be 19.

    K, hypocritical bit?

    1) You’re the racist, saying that asians can’t dance…it’s like saying that the majority of black people have huge asses, steal, have little intelligence, and live in the ghetto (proof? Your grammar!). And if you wanna go into detail, the percentage of black people who talk in slang is much higher than that of asians that can’t dance. Sorry! (By the way, I’m actually pretty good…I’m only racist when people pull that on me…your bad luck, I guess)

    2) Who in the world would post comments against asians on an asian-based site??? Obviously from that post, you’re not asian…I mean, if you’re on these sites, keep your racism to yourself, please!

Haha. Crack, crab, and crap! But I have to admit that ‘crack’ doesn’t really make sense…Then again, I don’t really get why they banned Mirotic and Rainism…! Anyhow, I think that Seung Ri’s lyrics are a bit too explicit…kinda disappoints me, cause it seems to be heading towards the American-style lyrics…Haha. And yeah, I think that they should seriously take a good look at the implications of the song rather than the word ‘crack’!
But I love the song…nicely composed by G-dragon, while most Americans haven’t even been able to compose or write lyrics for a single song!
Seung Ri has talent! He’s cute, he can sing, and obviously, he’s a good dancer! Completely different from the majority of no-talents in the states who lip-sync and go for their image and looks…but nonetheless, I have to give credit to them for continuously jumping up and down for 3-4 minutes…it’s tiring exercise!!! lol. But I guess if you really think that you have more talent than Seung Ri, then maybe it’s about time you reveal yourself to the top charts of the Korean entertainment industry!

how about snap snap snap heh heh ..i can’t believe they’re letting him do something so sexual on the mv already. the boy just turned 18. no wait, i was at full sexual maturity by then, so nevermind. ^____^ he’s pretty cute tho….how i miss those years.

  14. Can you say ” AKGV” instead of crack.

    AKGV- Another Korean Goverment Victim

  15. I love this song if you were to listen to the whole song and read the lyrics you would see that,” Crack Crack Crack” is not in any way bad to say,But as far as the rest of song.

    YEAH IT IS!!

I can’t believe there more worried about the crack then the rest of the song.Saying crack is not even bad compared to everything else taht was said in the song it’s self.

Also, What about BoA and her song title EAT YOU UP isn’t that bad.I’m pretty sure everyone knows what EYU means right?I’m personaly very shocked that BoA wasn’t AKGV for the titla of the song and the sex surrounding it.I’m pretty such that they will ban that song sooner or later.

Does she even know what EYU means?

    @SharnyaYoshihara,
Well, if BoA doesn’t know what EYU mean, I’m pretty sure the government doesn’t know as well.
I’ve noticed that most songs that were victims were chosen for their English.
    “Under My Skin”
    “Do it, Do it”
    “Magic Stick”
    “Crack”
    – Although there were also some concerns about the Korean lyrics (erm… the whole issue of DBSK singing about a woman’s monthly), they put more emphasis on the English words. And yet I don’t think they’re banning any of the English songs that are obviously close (or directly showing) to profanity. Just look at how Sexy Back is popular in Korea.

“Dancing competition? Shut the hell up b*tch; you know that the majority of Asians can’t dance. Dance competitions ain’t sh*t…..”

Just telling from the way you write you’re probably black since you know… adding the boo like that makes it sound so ghetto *sarcasm intended*. It’s a wonder why when popseoul talks about changing “crack” to “clap” everyone goes on about different things. I brought that little snippet up there down because who said a majority of asians can’t dance? From my own experiance… I believe some of the greatest breakdancers are korean. You may argue that breakdancing isn’t dancing but whythef**k is dance at the end then? They’re still following the r&b of the song and bringing out the emotion through music.

Not saying that every asian can dance but that statement is biased as f**k. Father YG did drop him and So 1 during the making of BB but that was intended to strengthen their drive and his rendition of the song Haru Haru was great so the kid CAN sing. Just my opinion.

now for the person who cant read. see i never said anything about asians cant dance. so get your sh*t right

  21. kanginloverr says:

haha! wow. the beginning sounds very much like FLAVA FLAAAAVE!!!! lol anyways..omgsh! what IS the point of *crack* anyways? it isn’t like it’s someone promoting the drug CRACK. but if they did change it to *CLAP* it MIGHT sound like cRAP. no joke.

  22. Cat says:

mk i think they should replace the word with some sort of synthesized bass sound or an actual “clapping” sound if they’re that concerned jeeeez

  23. amareally says:

Okay alright CRACK is weird especially when what they’re doing is actually clapping.. It’s kinda Justin Timberlake “My Love” vibe but I love the song … be it crack or clap, or CRAB what ever ! seung ri is HOT and the song is addictive.

also to the fans, you like Baby, but you don’t like this song? are you guys still calling this “support”? can you guys still call yourself fans? shouldn’t you be feel happy about him that baby already got his solo performance?!

Why are you calling G-Dragon a copycat? and a bad composer? All of his songs he wrote, they got all popular and went to the top charts! what about you? do you think you can compose better? do you know how hard is it to write songs?

Even if Baby’s still young he still got a lot of experience cause he’s a pro.
