Harry Potter Director remakes Hello Ghost!

This movie will be ten times scarier now!

American movie Director, Chris Columbus, has bought the rights to remake the 2010 Korean movie “Hello Ghost“. The Hollywood version of “Hello Ghost” will premiere in theatres sometime within the next two years.

Recently, Columbus was quoted stating the following about his new project:

“……… I was immediately struck by the film’s ability to mix comedy, drama and complex emotional themes. Its strong universal storyline translates to any culture, and I’m looking forward to bringing a version of this wonderful story to the English-speaking audience.”

If you mix “Hello Ghost” and the right amount of “Harry Potter”, this movie will be transformed into a full blown horror movie. “Hello Harry” may have to watch this new production all alone. The kiddies won’t be allowed in the theaters!

With my predictions aside……Are you looking forward to watching the Hollywood remake?

    Certainly!

  2. Jjj says:

Why remake why doesn’t he put his name as a producer and promote with subtitles

    • Pen says:

Because americans don’t really like watching movies which don’t have lots of thin-style typically mainstream american looking people in it. Not that mainstream americans are thin, but they still like looking at thin people.

      • C. says:

@What? That is probably one of the worst assumptions I’ve ever laid eyes on. Please, stop talking. Even if you may be upset at the remake, it happens. No need to diss anyone while doing so. Especially when that diss is wrong. Who cares if someone is thin or not? If they can act that’s what matters.

Anyway, @Jjj, remakes happen when director’s are so struck by a movie that they want to interpret it in their own way with their own vision. Kind of like an artist who likes a certain character and may want to draw that character in their own style. Most likely that’s what is happening here.

And also the directors are aware that asian cinema isn’t very popular within USA, and so needs translating into a cultural format which is easier for the american consumers to digest.

    can’t wait….

It’ll be like the remake of ‘my violent and not very sassy girl/foetal alcohol syndrome victim’ where the americans made it so well, it was straight to video.

It did have jack bower’s daughter in it though, she’s canadian.

What is this movie about? Hollywood remakes of asian movies are never half as good as the original.

Usually remakes of asian movies are really bad but I actually like the harry potter movies style and substance wise so maybe this will not be that bad. But I agree , I have a feeling with him as the director the american version will probably be a bit darker than the korean film.

next two years…..dang!! if the world is still here I guess lol

thats awesome, but me personally, no cause I don’t like scary movies, but I will go watch it just to support it then have nightmares later….

To me, seeing a remake done so soon after the original movie’s premiere seems like a slap in the face to those who had worked hard to produce the original version. I’ve seen a lot of Hollywood remakes, and I admit the cultural gap is hard to bridge – but too many times I’ve seen the adaptation ruin the essence of what made the original worth watching (such as the remake of “Jenny and Juno.”) In any case, as long as the original gets credited and that it’s stated from the very beginning that it’s an adaptation/remake, I’m okay with it as more discerning viewers will make the effort to find the original for comparison.
